MICHELLE'S PHILOSOPHY
-
Play-Based Educator - I believe that children learn through play. In play they grow their knowledge, skillset, and experiences. They have the opportunities to be curious, explore, question, test, repeat, and make references to their world. Play is integral to a child's holistic development.
-
Social-Emotional Teacher - I believe that social and emotional skill building is just as, if not more, important than academia. These foundational skills carry us throughout our lifetime. Having a strong foundation in emotional labeling and safe emotional expression, self-regulation, problem-solving, and friendship navigation teachings must begin in the early years.
-
Relationships and Connections - I believe that building a safe, secure, and professional relationship with children, their families, other educators, and the community is integral to our fundamental growth and positive health outcomes. I encourage and advocate for open-door policies, community engagements, and building those relationships with our clients.
-
Early Learning Approach - I utilize the BC Early Learning Framework in my workshop presentations, and in my own personal child care programming.

-
Commitment to Professional Development - as an ECE I understand the requirement to complete 40 hours of Pro-D every 5 years. I believe that Pro-D that teaches on real issues in the ECE sector, that demonstrates new areas of child development, that fosters educator connections, and supports our learning is my goal to you.
